Apple-Walnut Beer Bread
(Makes 1 loaf)
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon
1/3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
1 medium apple, peeled and diced
1 (12-ounce) can or bottle of beer (room temperature)
4 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Stir to blend the ingredients. Stir in the walnuts, diced apple and beer. The mixture will be very thick. Evenly spread the mixture into a greased 8 x 5-inch loaf pan. Set the pan aside for 15 to 20 minutes. (The dough will not rise, this just allows the beer to ferment, as yeast would in regular bread.)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Pour the melted butter over the top of the bread dough in the pan. Bake for 1 hour. Allow the bread to cool for 10 to 15 minutes before removing it from the pan.

This easy to make beer bread is filled with the flavors or autumn. It is only slightly sweet so it is perfect to serve with soups and stews, or with cheese on a charcuterie board or simply with a spread of butter or jam. The choice of beer is yours ... even an apple hard cider may be used for more apple flavor.
